British high streets awash with Giz

(Sorry. Our inner 12-year-old is still enjoying it.) Tiger Telematics' handheld now available in shops other than the one named after it.

The Gizmondo will be available in selected high street and online shops from this weekend.

John Lewis will stock the handheld in stores across the country, including its Oxford Street, Bluewater and Newcastle branches. The Gizmondo is already being advertised on the John Lewis website, priced at £229.

The Carphone Warehouse will also put forth Giz through its online store, and will feature the console in selected Manchester branches.

And finally, the Gizmondo will go on sale in GameStation's Edinburgh and Birmingham stores, which Tiger Telematics describe as "a key destination for the Gizmondo consumer, both in terms of the launch demographic and the mainstream videogaming audience."

The announcement follows the Gizmondo's launch on March 19, which coincided with the opening of a flagship store on Regent Street. The console will go on sale in Ireland on April 19.
