Call of Duty right on track

Special pre-gold release confirmation celebration release.

Activision is still planning to release Call of Duty across the USA on October 29th. But although this is a silly pre-release, pre-gold, pre-anything press release timed to get to gamers on what was meant to be the biggest day of FPS calendar - September 30th - Activision's coddling of the COD is entirely justified in our view.

Half-Life 2 may be lining itself up to be king of the FPS world, but Call of Duty is likely to ship first, and is surely one of the last words in World War II and the invasion of Fortress Europe, as we discovered on a recent trip to Slough. Think of how good it must be! To shine - in Slough! We had plenty of time to think about it just waiting for all the traffic lights to bugger off.

Exactly when will we get our hands on it over here? Early November, they told us last week. November 7th, it says on Activision's latest UK schedule. We'll let you know whether it lives up to the hype when we get our grubby little fingers wrapped around its greasy, battered muskets.
