Crossfire for X360 and Vista

Pivotal's latest. Co-op FPS.

Eidos and Pivotal Games have announced Crossfire for Xbox 360 and Windows Vista during this evening's X06 festivities.

It's a two-player co-operative first-person shooter due out in 2007, and it sounds like you can either control both combatants yourself or play with a friend. Cool.

In it you'll trawl South America, Africa and Siberia, switching between the pair to lay down covering fire, explore diverging paths through the levels, create distractions or pin down enemies under... if only there was a term for two converging streams of projectiles!

And now, while I run off to read some other press releases, here's a bit of background information (best read aloud after smoking 50 Marlborough Reds at the same time):

A Crossfire screenshot. Pretty!

"When the US government needs intelligence but wants no association with an operation, deniable operatives are dispatched.

"Responsible for covert paramilitary actions, the Special Activities Division is a division of the Central Intelligence Agency's former Directorate of Operations, now the National Clandestine Service.

"Members of the unit must bear no identity; no objects, papers or clothing that could associate them in any way with their employees, CROSSFIRE draws its inspiration from this group of highly skilled individuals."

And you can find out more about it on the official website, although I can't because it crashes my browser.
