Final Fantasy XI US beta testing

For subscribers and winners from the US and Canada.

The North American PC version of Final Fantasy XI will shortly be moving into the beta phase, and various sites are offering their readers the chance to get in on it. Unfortunately, the test only seems to be open to people in the US and Canada (surprise, surprise), although ATI's sign-up page doesn't make that distinction. Still, if you have some clever ploy in mind (like eloping) then FilePlanet, GameSpot and Stratics are all giving spots to paid subscribers. Final Fantasy Vault, meanwhile, has a contest going on to give away their berths. Thanks to Blue's News for the various links.

Final Fantasy XI is of course Square's eagerly awaited (well, occasionally mooted) MMORPG in the Final Fantasy vein. Rob had a quick look at it during E3 as part of his Final Fantasy Foray, and it should be released in Europe one day on PS2 and PC, assuming nothing disastrous happens in the meantime.
