Don't write off Sony - Braben

Elite co-creator backs PS3.

David Braben believes that people shouldn't write off Sony (or on them), arguing that the machine's versatility may lead consumers to regard it "more as a cheap PC than an expensive console".

Speaking to CVG, Braben likened the "fashion to knock Sony" to pre-launch cynicism directed at the Dreamcast, and pointed to Sony's past success as something to bear in mind - "they're one of the few companies to have gone outside core gamers," he said, echoing a sentiment shared by a lot of major developers and publishers who've defended Sony in recent months.

And Sony aren't the only thing you shouldn't be writing off, says Braben. "Blu-ray? People are writing off way too early. I think that's extremely exciting, I want one," he said. (Making him, by our count, the first person anywhere to confess to that.)
