Armed & Gold

LucasArts' action-action game yells "action!"

Busy old LucasArts has confirmed that Armed & Dangerous, the curious "action-action" game that aims to revive the developer's legendary sense of humour, has gone gold for Xbox. The team has also moved to reassure gamers that victory will be theirs in 12,000 bullets or less.

For anyone who missed the game's uproarious E3 trailer (bettered by Sam & Max: Freelance Police, but then what wasn't?), the Armed & Dangerous website has plenty of details, and promises a demo in the near future. In short though, it's a game about the gunslinging Lionhearts, on a 21-stage mission to obliterate psychopathic robots and giant war machines.

The fact that it's been developed by the makers of Giants, Planet Moon Studios, is one of the main reasons we'll be keeping an eye on this one. That and the promise of vintage Lucas humour, which could rescue all but the most cold-hearted of action games as far as we're concerned.

The game is due out on PC and Xbox in the US on December 2nd, and although Activision has no European date for the title just yet, we expect to see it before the end of the year if not early next.
