New Castlevania given US date

Curse of Darkness imminent.

Importing types take note: Konami's said that Castlevania: Curse of Darkness will be released on PS2 and Xbox on November 1st in the USA.

Curse of Darkness follows Hector, a former disciple of Dracula, as he seeks revenge. Lovely. He used to be a Devil Forgemaster, apparently, which ought to give him a decent working knowledge of Dracula's crumbling castle. The game's been designed by the same folks who worked on Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.

Sadly us European types will have to wait until the first quarter of 2006 to get our hands on the PAL version, but if you're a bit of a servant of Konami's dark ones then you could always pick up the DS version, Dawn of Sorrow, which came out over here recently.

Our review of that will be going up later this week. In fact, we're busy playing it at the moment and, without spoiling things too much, it's bloody brilliant - and having the map permanently displayed on the top screen is one of those things that might sound dull on paper, but actually proves to be hugely convenient to the way you play it.
