Cube cut to £79 in UK

And €99 across the rest of Europe a week later.

Nintendo will cut the price of the GameCube to £79 in the UK from October 10th, the company has just announced, before dropping the price to €99 across Europe on October 17th.

"There has never been a better time to get a GameCube and with this new price we want every household to have one," says MD of sales and marketing David Gosen. "If you are new to gaming or have been playing for years, then at this great price you simply can¹t afford not to have a GameCube."

With a £139 price point now in place for PS2 as well, all eyes must surely now focus on Microsoft, which recently promised to stick to Sony's pricing tail in the US. The company is expected to cut the price of the Xbox in the US and Europe in the near future.
