MS details E3 demos, trailers to be offered through Live

Microsoft's given the clearest hint yet of what it plans to show off during E3 week.

Between 8th and 15th May, 360 owners with access to Live Marketplace will be able to download new high definition trailers including one for Gears of War, and playable demos including Capcom's Lost Planet, the company said today.

Starting at 8am GMT on 8th May, 360 owners will be able to access a mixture of trailers and demos for Test: Drive Unlimited, Moto GP '06, Crackdown, Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2, The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Sonic the Hedgehog, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Viva Piñata, Microsoft said.

We're also told to expect trailers from games yet to be announced. Halo 3, anyone?

During the week, Microsoft will also launch a map pack for Call of Duty 2, the Xbox Live Arcade version of UNO, E3 gamerpics and themes, and offer gamers "a backstage pass to see developers preparing for E3".

Microsoft's pre-E3 conference takes place next Tuesday, and is expected to see the launch of new games as well as new footage of stuff already in development. We'll be on hand to bring you the details.
