Beanotown Racing

Say no more.

Ahh yes, The Beano. Personally, I never had much enthusiasm for this very British institution because as a child I was a snob. Some might say I still am, but that's irrelevant. However, I did have a school friend who was still getting his Beano subscription when we left sixth form at 17, so I expect he amongst many other quickly ageing gamers clutching onto the last remnants of their youth would be extremely delighted to learn that Beanotown Racing will be making its way onto PCs on 7th November, courtesy of Simian Industries.

The game features ten characters from the much-loved kids comic as well as its sister publication, The Dandy. Dennis the Menace, Bea, Plug, Mini the Minx, Desperate Dan, Rodger the Dodger, Brain Dwayne, Korky the Cat, Gnasher and Bananaman will race each other around six tracks set in the streets of Beanotown. You can expect a compliment of character-specific weaponry, including heat-seeking tomatoes, rapid-fire peas and nappy gas, a touch of which our illustrious editor is suffering from at the moment I hear. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be any mention of multiplayer features in the press release, but we did get some screenshots!
