New Virtual-On game for Xbox 360

Online multiplayer and co-op options.

SEGA is working on a new Virtual-On game for Xbox 360.

That's according to a preview in the latest issue of Famitsu (thanks Kotaku), which reveals that the 3D mech fighting game is to be reborn as a full retail title for Microsoft system.

According to the Japanese games mag, Virtual-On Force will include a single-player mission mode, co-operative play for boss fights, two-on-two "Leadership Org Battles" online, and the option to split the screen four ways so multiple people can play online from one console.

There's no immediate word on the combat system or other changes to the game, which began life as a late-nineties arcade title before a glorious turn on the Dreamcast - later resurrected for an 8/10-scoring XBLA release.

In the original you picked your mechy Virtuaroid then fought others in 3D arenas - a "strategically rich combat game with lots of long term appeal", as we put it last year.

There's no word on a release date.

We've asked SEGA for more information and perhaps we'll see it at E3. 'Tis the season.
