Nintendo announces Super Mario 3DS

Full reveal at E3, says Iwata.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has announced a "brand new" Mario game for Nintendo 3DS.

It will "incorporate the new opportunity of 3DS", promised the Nintendo president during his Game Developers Conference keynote this afternoon.

The game is being developed by the team that made the Super Mario Galaxy games for Wii.

He showed one slide with four screenshots of the new game. A bright, colourful and recognisable 3D Mario world was visible.

The logo simply referred to the game as Super Mario, although a tail was attached to the letter O.

"You may wonder what this indicates," Iwata teased. "We will reveal this at E3 this year."
