Microsoft is set to unveil a "brand new music/singing" game at E3 next week.

That's according to Variety (spotted by Kotaku) who heard this would be the case from "somebody involved in promoting it".

This singing game, of course, could be the potential SingStar-beater Lips, as mentioned in pages of leaked Intellisponse market research recently.

That info stated Lips will work with two wireless microphones, feature 30 songs on the disc with more available to download, and give you the option to import your own music from your iPod, Zune or CDs - where it will do clever things to them so you can hear yourself warbling over the top.

Rumours also point to the developer of Lips being iNis of Elite Beat Agent fame.

Time will tell - probably just after 6.30pm on Monday evening when Microsoft delivers its E3 conference to press. Tom will be bringing us live updates of that as it happens.
