MS: Halo 3 outsold six PS3 titles combined

Greenberg goes on offensive pre-E3.

Affable Xbox 360 mouthpiece Aaron Greenberg has stirred things up ahead of next week's traditional Sony vs. Microsoft E3 battle by claiming that Halo 3 sales are more than most of Sony's first-party line-up put together.

"Just in from research team (NPD): Halo 3 has outsold Resistance 1 + 2, Uncharted 1+2, Killzone 2 and God of War III COMBINED....wow," Greenberg tweeted overnight.

Microsoft said in January 2008 that Halo 3 had sold 8.1 million copies worldwide, and according to unofficial VGChartz data it passed the 10 million threshold last August, since when it has also joined the Xbox Live Games on Demand line-up.

According to Sony, the two Uncharted games have sold over 4.5 million combined, while God of War III was quickly reported to have hit 1.1m worldwide, and Killzone 2 and the original Resistance: Fall of Man both topped 1m. Data for Resistance 2 doesn't seem to be available.

Greenberg is often referred to by Destructoid as Microsoft's "Minister of Propaganda" - a label he once gave Eurogamer the impression he rather enjoys - and is intimately involved in orchestrating the platform holder's E3 press conference, which takes place next Monday, 14th June, at 10am PST / 6pm BST.
