More DJ Hero, Guitar Hero DLC promised

"Let's call it an encore."

Activision has changed and has promised to release new Guitar Hero and DJ Hero downloadable content.

"I can confirm that there will be DLC for both Guitar Hero and DJ Hero in both March and April," wrote Activision community mouthpiece Dan Amrich on the One of Swords website.

Only last month Activision announced the closure of its Guitar Hero business following appalling sales of the once all-conquering franchise.

It said at the time that once February 2011 was over, no more Hero DLC would be released.

UK developer Freestyle Games is currently working with Activision "on various options going forward for the studio" as the threat of layoffs looms. Activision is in the process of axing 500 jobs across the company.

"As you might expect, there were some track packs already in the works, and rather than abandon them, they're being finished up and will be issued over the next two months," Amrich said.

"Let's call it an encore – and a thank-you to the fans for your support (Guitar Hero hit three million Likes on Facebook – and everybody involved in making GH really appreciates the love)."

Exactly when the content will be released, which songs and artists will be included and cost are all yet to be announced.
