MineCraft documentary needs your cash

Pledge enough, get a mounted pickaxe.

Got any spare cash? Care about MineCraft? Film maker 2 Player Productions wants your donation to help make a feature-length MineCraft documentary a reality.

2 Player Productions has 31 days left to raise $150,000. If it doesn't: no film. So far $27,385 has been donated.

2 Player Productions has already produced a 20-minuted MineCraft documentary, but soon realised that this wasn't enough time to chart the phenomenal and unprecedented success of the game.

Why donate?

"For the first time, viewers will be given an in-depth look at both the triumphs and the challenges faced by a studio during their first year in existence. We will analyze the unprecedented success of Minecraft, gain insight into its impact from journalists and industry professionals, and meet the fans whose lives have been changed by the game," wrote 2 Player Productions on its website.

Oh, and there will be incentives for each tier of generosity.

Pledge $1 and you'll get a digital backer kit and access to the documentary's production blog. Pledge $10 or more and you'll get the documentary's soundtrack and a "thank you" in the credits. Pledge $30 or more and you'll get a two-disc Supporter Edition DVD of the documentary with snazzy packaging, a free digital soundtrack download and your name in the credits.

Pledge $60 or more and you'll get a 2 Player autographed Supporter Edition DVD, physical soundtrack with bonus tracks, exclusive Creeper wind-up toy and your name in the credits. Pledge $100 or more and you'll get a custom MineCraft scenery poster print and all the $60-tier rewards. Pledge $250 or more and MineCraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson will sign and number the poster.

Pledge $350 or more and add a MineCraft video of your creation (limit 15 seconds) to be played during the credits. Pledge $500 or more and you can replace that video with an exclusive Box Pig piggy bank (plus the $250-tier rewards).

Pledge $2500 or more (now we're talking) and you'll get an actual mounted pickaxe signed by MineCraft developer Mojang (plus the $500-tier rewards). Finally, pledge $10,000 or more and you'll be credited as an executive producer of the documentary in the credits and on IMDB. You'll also spend a day at the Mojang offices, attend the film opening in Stockholm and get all the other rewards mentioned so far.

So far, the most anyone has pledged has been $500. That sum was donated by three separate people.

Halo, the MineCraft way.
