Microsoft will allow pirates free upgrades to Windows 10

Windows 10 is slated for a summer 2015 release, Microsoft has announced. Better yet, the company is comfortable letting those with pirated versions of Windows accept the free upgrade to the latest OS.

"We are excited to launch Windows 10 this summer. Anyone with a qualified device can upgrade to Window 10, including those with pirated copies of Windows," a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer. "We believe customers over time will realise the value of properly licensing Windows and we will make it easy for them to move to legitimate copies."

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade to anyone using Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows Phone 8.1, so long as customers claim this offer in the first year the upcoming OS is on the market.

From a gaming perspective, one of Windows 10's most enticing features is that it will allow users to remote play Xbox One games on their Windows 10 devices using an Xbox One gamepad as a controller. There will also be a universal Xbox app across all Windows 10 devices.

Upon its summer launch, Windows 10 will be available in 190 countries and 111 languages.
