Microsoft details Xbox One updates rolling out - including USB media support

Plus you'll be able to pre-order and pre-download games.

Microsoft used its Gamescom 2014 briefing to highlight some of the new features coming to Xbox One over the coming months, including support that allows streaming of media from attached USB devices and the ability to pre-load forthcoming games.

The pre-load initiative was announced in the briefing itself, with the feature debuting with FIFA 15 and Forza Horizon - with more games to come in the near future.

On Major Nelson's blog a suite of other updates were announced. Highlights include the ability to play media files on an attached USB device through new app, new threaded messages and a series of updates that seem to replicate some of the functionality of the Xbox 360's guide button. There's no set date on when the new features will roll out, but they're expected in the coming months.
