Lost Odyssey in February

But not playable at TGS.

Game creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has announced that Lost Odyssey will be released in Japan this December, followed by Europe and America next February.

He was speaking at a Microsoft pre-TGS conference in Tokyo, where he led the crowd through the first ten minutes of the role-playing game.

According to attendees Kotaku, the title is now 95 per cent complete, and will be playable at a press event in November. But sadly, Sakaguchi confirmed, it won't be playable in Tokyo later this month - as we had previously expected.

Lost Odyssey is in development at Sakaguchi's studio Mistwalker, and is a traditional Japanese turn-based RPG with a few fancy new ideas. You'll play as Kaim, who's over 1000 years old, and generally punch big enemies in the chops with a little help from friends you'll meet along the way.

Mistwalker has already released another JRPG for Microsoft in the shape of Blue Dragon, which sadly failed to live up to expectations here. However, it was a step in the right direction for the platform holder, who continues to combat poor sales in Japan.
