Live action Sonic fan film gets thumbs up from Yuji Naka

"Awesome!"

As far as video game inspired fan films go, it's not the best, but this live action Sonic short has at least pleased the developer whose creation takes centre stage.

The film, below, stars the blue hedgehog as he helps a group of rebels fight back against an invasion led by Robotnik. It has CGI robots and people running in a wood.

The dialogue isn't great, the special effects could be better and Sonic himself seems a tad slow, but it's a nice idea and a solid effort from New York-based production team Blue Core Studios.

The video already had 85,000 views, with a somewhat mixed reception. But Sonic creator Yuji Naka, who tweeted the video saying, "awesome!!" is happy.
