LA Noire - The White Shoe Slaying

How to solve the Homicide desk case.

LA Noire's The White Shoe Slaying is one of many cases on the Homicide desk, following on from The Silk Stocking Murder.

The White Shoe Slaying

Location: Crime Scene

Talk to the coroner to find out the Time of Death.

Clues:

  • Examine the body. Look at the head to find a Laundry Label on the victim's collar.
  • Examine evidence marker B to find Boot Prints.
  • Examine evidence marker C to find Tire Tracks.

Interview Catherine Barton:

  • Suspicious Persons: Good Cop (or Truth in the original version).

Use the telephone to add Superior Laundry Services and Hobo Camp as locations.

Location: Superior Laundry Services

Examine the Laundry Ledger and look for entry F1363 to get an address.

Location: 43 Emerald Street

Clues:

  • In the bedroom on the left look on the dresser to find an overturned picture and a matchbook for Baron's Bar.
  • The Victim's Purse is by the sink in the laundry room; look inside to find the Victim's Drivers License.
  • By the back door of the laundry room there are Size 8 Muddy Boots and a Wet Jacket.
  • Head outside and examine the boat to find the Bow Rope.

Interview Lars Taraldsen:

  • Possible Suspects: Accuse (or Lie in the original version). Evidence: Bow Rope.
  • Alibi for Lars Taraldsen: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Victim's State of Mind: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Last Contact with Victim: Accuse (or Lie in the original version). Evidence: Muddy Shoes or Wet Jacket.

Use the telephone before heading out.

Location: Baron's Bar

Interview Benny Cluff:

  • Last Contact with Victim: Good Cop (or Truth in the original version).
  • Vagrant Male Suspect: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Yellow Cab 3591: Good Cop (or Truth in the original version).

Richard Bates, your new POI, will make a run for it. Hop in your car and chase him down.

Interview Richard Bates:

  • Contact with Victim: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Account of movements: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).

Use a Telephone to put out an APB on the yellow cab, then get in your car and wait for its location to be radioed in.

Use your notebook to mark its location and then get there quickly; if you take too long it will move and you'll need to head to its new location. If you keep missing it then its final destination is just south of the junction of Garland Ave. & 7th Street.

Location: Central Police Station

Interrogation of James Jessop:

  • Contact with Victim: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Incident with Bates: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Movements prior to murder: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).
  • Cab ride with victim: Bad Cop (or Doubt in the original version).

When you leave the police station a short cutscene will give you the location of the Hobo Camp, but don't go there yet.

Location: Bus Depot

Speak to the woman at the front desk - she'll give you a route map that the driver is currently taking.

Location: Bus Route No. 74

Turn on your siren and follow the bus route clockwise; there's a bit of luck and randomness involved in where it'll be located when you catch up with it, but when you do speak to the driver to learn of the victim's last known movements.

Location: Hobo Camp

Leave your partner to gun down the camp's occupants in cold blood while you have a fistfight with Stuart Ackerman. Once he's out for the count head into his shack.

Clues:

  • There's another Newspaper on the crates directly across from the door.
  • On the table is a Purse containing a balroom ticket.
  • On the nightstand is a Bloodstained Rope.
