Kinect Star Wars trailer shows gameplay

Rancors! Slave I! X-Wings! Force powers!

A gameplay video and details on Kinect Star Wars have emerged ahead of the game's appearance in Microsoft's E3 press conference.

US publication Entertainment Weekly has a pre-event exclusive on the game first revealed at last year's show, which promises a whistle-stop tour of locations from both trilogies, letting you experience both the light and dark sides of the Force.

In the Kinect Star Wars E3 trailer we see a Bieber-a-like waving his arms around attacking battle droids with a lightsaber; using gestures to dash forward and somersault; piloting a pod racer on Tattooine; assuming control of a giant, stomping rancor; and flying in an X-Wing.

The final sequence is a Star Wars nerd's wet dream, with R2D2 and C-3PO, Boba Fett's Slave I, Stormtroopers and more scattered across the desert as the Tattooine theme from Return of the Jedi plays.

Stirring stuff, undeniably – but how well will Kinect respond to our Jedi skills in reality? Expect more on the game in Microsoft's press conference at 5pm BST today – Eurogamer will be inside and livetexting throughout.
