Kickstarter for Rollcage spiritual successor canned

But Grip holds on.

The people behind Grip, the Rollcage spiritual successor, have canned its Kickstarter.

Caged Element put a stop to the Kickstarter after $153,990 Canadian dollars had been pledged. It had set a goal of $657,000.

"Yes, we realised a while ago (as did many of you) that things were not looking positive for reaching our funding goal," the developer wrote in an update on the Grip Kickstarter.

However, there is a plan to launch the game on Steam as an Early Access title no later than 30th November 2015.

"Early access will allow us to truly focus on development, while giving the players the power to change the shape of the game as it's being made," Caged Element said.

Meanwhile, the developers have launched a Paypal/Stripe campaign on the Grip website. This lets you buy an Early Access code in advance of the November launch.

"We don't need a lot of money to get to that milestone; we just need to pay some outstanding bills in the meantime, which is why we're asking for your support in advance of Steam early access," caged Element said.
