John Romero's new Facebook game
Cloudforest Expedition hits this summer.
Doom creator John Romero has revealed his next game.
Cloudforest Expedition is the first-person shooter legend's second Facebook game, and is due out in the summer.
It's a collaboration between Romero's game company Loot Drop and social game company RockYou, which is funding and publishing the project. Romero is listed as lead designer.
Cloudforest Expedition is described as an adventure and exploration Facebook game that "invites players to become the next great explorer".
There's a story, but gameplay revolves around clearing, exploration and discovery.
Cloudforest Expedition is Loot Drop's first game for RockYou, but it follows the new developer's hugely successful Ravenwood Fare, which launched on Facebook last year.
"Since we signed our initial deal in January, RockYou has been an awesome partner," Romero said. "They support our creative freedom as we bring innovation to the story-driven adventure genre with Cloudforest Expedition.
"Extending the relationship with a second game makes sense, and we're excited to reveal more details of our projects."
RockYou will also publish a second Romero-made game following Cloudforest Expedition.
