Intriguing stealth puzzler Gunpoint headed to Steam

IGF finalist still without release date.

Indie PC puzzler and 2012 IGF finalist Gunpoint has secured a Steam release, its creator has told Eurogamer.

Gunpoint lets you become a crack freelance spy, able to assail rooms full of CCTV cameras and other security devices. You'll need to use a mixture of quick-fingered re-wiring and quick-witted stealth tactics to progress.

Using the game's Crosslink gadget you can, for example, re-wire a camera that would normally set off an alarm so it instead opens a locked door.

It's the brainchild of PC Gamer writer Tom Francis, who has previously described Gunpoint as "rewiring things and punching people".

"[Francis has] built a framework for a puzzler that rewards cleverness and convoluted sadism in equal measure," Christian Donlan wrote gleefully in Eurogamer's Gunpoint preview earlier this year.

There's still no word on a final release date, but you can sign up to hear more over on Gunpoint's official site. Footage of the game's gadgets in action lies below.
