GTA 3 cheat codes are essential for any aspiring mobster keen on wreaking havoc in Liberty City, allowing you to do almost anything, from spawning tanks to gaining invincibility.
GTA 3 is available across multiple platforms including the PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Switch and mobile. Each version has cheats, so we've listed all the GTA 3 cheats below so that you can make the most of exploring Rockstar's version of New York. How to enter cheats in GTA 3 including Definitive Edition
While entering cheats in GTA 3 is pretty simple, there are always a few things to bear in mind when you're planning on using them in-game - especially if you are playing the Definitive Edition.
- Several cheat codes in the 2021 Definitive Edition have been disabled. Rockstar has confirmed it has removed some cheats for technical reasons, and we have verified which have worked for us on this page - and have kept the ones which have worked in previous re-releases below if you are playing those.
- There are new cheat codes in the Definitive Edition. One is Big Head Mode, which is performed by entering the Konami code (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right) then the right-most face button, then the down-most face button (so on PlayStation, would be Circle then X). There is seemingly no PC-specific way to input this cheat by using the keyboard. Here's the cheat in action via Dan Allen Gaming on YouTube:
- Controller and keyboard inputs (mostly) work on all platforms in the Definitive Edition. This means on PC you can use controller input to activate cheats (useful for the new Big Head Mode in particular!) and on console, use the PC keyboard inputs to activate cheats. However, in our experience the ones which work and which don't can vary - so if one code doesn't work one way, try the 'usual' method for that platform to see if that works instead.
- Using cheats can disable Trophies and Achievements. As such, use a separate save file for any cheat-filled sessions.
- If cheats don't work from the start of the game, complete the first mission. This is the 'tutorial' and can open up more options when completed, so play until you are 'allowed' to explore the open world, and then start entering cheats.
- Save before using cheats. Especially on previous remasters or the PS2 original, using cheats can be a little bit risky, and you'll often struggle to undo the havoc you cause with them turned on, anyway. Always save first so you have a backup just in case.
- Most cheats can't be deactivated. Re-entering a cheat will often bring up a "cheat deactivated" message in-game, but in our experience that often leaves the cheat still active, or at least the resulting chaos still well in effect. This is another reason why you should save first, so you can re-load that save game to go back to before you entered the cheat.
- Don't save whilst the cheat is active. This is an important one. With GTA 3 in particular, saving while a cheat is active can corrupt a save file or ruin a main save game by leaving it in a state of chaos. We strongly recommend you don't risk it and don't save once you've used one.

PC cheats for GTA 3 are entered by simply typing in the below codes as they appear - in either lower case or upper case. There's no need to bring up a console command box or dialog window, just type the code and it should work.

As long as your button presses are being registered - as in, you're not in the middle of a cutscene or something like that - then once you've completed them in order, it'll work.

Are there any GTA 3 mobile cheats?
There are cheats for GTA 3 on mobile, however, they use the PC cheats which require a keyboard, which means there isn't a natural way to input them. However, it is possible to download third-party software that allows you to use a keyboard overlay on top of a game.
We can't recommend you any specific software as we can't guarantee it's a safe download for you, and wouldn't want to cause you any problems, but if you exercise the proper cautions and know that you do so at your own risk, that's at least one possible workaround, and it does work!
