Gears of War PC in November

Marcus and Dom back at it.

The latest Microsoft release date listings show that Gears of War will be out here on 9th November.

That makes it just under a year since the 360 version first grunted into shops, and Epic has used the time to make various nips and tucks to the testosterone-filled shooter.

There's five new single-player chapters to explore in the main campaign, including one based around an encounter with the giant Brumak first seen at the end of Act 1 in the 360 version; you know, the enormous dinosaur thing with rocket launchers strapped onto it like a great big lab rat.

Multiplayer has expanded, too, bringing with it King of the Hill mode and a trio of new maps. This adds a nice alternative to a primarily cover-based game, as most of your team will have to stand in large floating rings normally placed out in the open to win.

Graphics and resolution have also been bumped up, although the kind of muscle machine you need to get the most out of it is likely going to cost more than Marcus Fenix's yearly supplement bill.

And although there is no four-player co-operative play to get excited about, Epic is throwing in a Software Development Kit for the mod community to get to grips with.

It will be a solid release of a hugely entertaining game, but one maybe overshadowed by the impending release of Unreal Tournament 3.

Head over to our first impressions of Gears of War on PC for a much more detailed analysis.
