UPDATE: THQ has confirmed Eurogamer's previous suspicions - that the publisher still holds the rights to Games Workshop's Warhammer 40K licence.

Rights to fantasy-based Warhammer games used to belong to EA, publisher of Warhammer Online. It is the future of these rights that Creative Assembly holds.

New Warhammer 40K: Space Marine DLC announced

The Dreadnought Pack out next week.

A fresh batch of DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine launches on 25th January, publisher THQ has announced.

The pack adds a new mode called Dreadnought Assault in which two teams scrap it out to secure a location on the game map. Whichever side is successful gets to spawn a dreadnought, which comes armed with an Assault Cannon/Auto Cannon, a Meltagun and a Power Fist/Power Claw.

The DLC also offers three new multiplayer maps - called Desolation, Dome Mechanicus and Chem Refinery - as well as a number of new achievements and trophies.

New Warhammer 40K: Space Marine DLC announced

New mode, maps and units incoming.

A second set of DLC is on its way to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, THQ has announced.

Due on all formats in December priced at 800 Microsoft Points or equivalent, the add-on includes a new Exterminatus co-op mode called Chaos Unleashed which sees you playing as a Chaos Space Marine fighting off both Orks and Imperial Guard Forces.

There are also three new multiplayer maps (Habs Ablaze, Station Tertius and Aquila Canyon0, new boss rounds, achievements and a new enemy unit - the Imperial Sanctioned Psyker.

Castlevania! DA2! Space Marine for 50!

This week's EU PlayStation Store update is a threadbare affair, headlined by the delayed 2D side-scroller Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.

Castlevania: HOD was first released last August as part of the Xbox 360's annual Summer of Arcade season, when it scored a frightful 4/10 from Eurogamer's John Teti.

There's still no sign of Mortal Kombat: Arcade Kollection however. Sony previously blamed the six week delay on a "technical issue" with the game.

The Exterminatus DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine will be released on Tuesday, 25th October, Eurogamer can exclusively reveal.

The free add-on will hit all three platforms - PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 - at once. Note that the PlayStation Store updates a day later in Europe each week, on Wednesdays.

With the Exterminatus DLC comes four-player online co-op. You play a special mode fittingly called Exterminatus, which pits Space Marines against Orks and the Forces of Chaos.

THQ has announced a downloadable Warhammer 40,000 game called Kill Team.

It launches on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in July for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99.

It's described as a fast-paced third-person arcade shooter, and includes a unique weapon unlock for upcoming home console game Warhammer 40k Space Marine.
