In late 2015 Night Dive Studios released a remastered version of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. Now it's done the same for its sequel, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.
Originally released in 1998 for the N64, Turok 2 sees everybody's favourite dinosaur hunter return in an adventure consisting of 35 enemy types, 20 weapons and six levels. It also added multiplayer.
This updated version of Turok 2 features enhanced graphics, improved enemy AI, new gameplay mechanics (like scaling ledges), and new multiplayer features like an option for split-screen in online matches and a new "Last Turok Standing" mode.
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and its sequel, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, will see their remastered editions coming to Xbox One, the developer of the restoration has announced.
Night Dive Studios previously brought Iguana Entertainment's 1997 dinosaur shooter to PC in December with improved graphics, gameplay and level design. The studio previously noted that it would be providing the same remastered treatment to its sequel.
The first Turok Remastered just received a Mac port last month.
UPDATE 15/12/2015 10.09am: Developer Night Dive Studios' Stephen Kick has outlined to Eurogamer the following enhancements in its Turok restoration:
Support for high resolutions, and widescreen.
Improved gameplay and level design.
Developer Night Dive Studios has released new screenshots from the Turok remaster project. Remember how, in the 1997 original, you could barely see your hands in front of you for all that fog? Well now you can! You can see way into the distance! No need to hide the texture pop-in these days.
Night Dive released an Enhanced Edition of System Shock recently, and is working on an entire re-imagining of the game, too. A sole screenshot has been posted on Night Dive's website teasing that project.
Night Dive announced in August that it would be remastering Turok 1 and 2, but didn't say anything about when the projects would be complete - and still hasn't. Both games are in for enhanced graphics and "other" improvements.
Cult classic Jurassic shooters Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil are being brought back to life for a PC re-release.
Both are being re-animated by Night Dive Studios, which previously worked on restoring System Shock 2.

Earlier this week art, renders and screens of the ill-fated dinosaur shooter sequel popped up on NeoGAF.

Bad news for anyone who enjoyed last year's Turok game on PC, PS3 or Xbox 360 - word is the sequel has been cancelled.
That's according to Kotaku, which reported Disney Interactive is making around 70 employees redundant from developer Propaganda Games.

Welcome back to our ongoing critical analysis of the latest in cross-platform game development, as we take a look at another batch of games released on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Recent skirmishes between the rival formats reveal that the Microsoft console still has a significant, quantifiable edge in terms of multi-format gaming quality, but in line with its improving sales figures, PlayStation 3 is gradually closing the gap.
For those of you who've somehow managed to avoid the last nine face-off features we've put together over the course of the last year, the basic objective of this coverage is remarkably straightforward - to provide console-specific commentary that supplements the existing Eurogamer reviews, with an emphasis on gameplay and technical differences.
The usual testing methodology is in place - the games are tested side-by-side, their video outputs losslessly captured in full 24-bit RGB precision via the HDMI ports of our PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Elite, using a Digital Foundry HD capture system. With every single frame recorded and stored on an unfeasibly large array of hard disks, we can then pick and choose the exact same shots from each game for inclusion in our comparison galleries.
On Friday, I cut some ham too close to the edge of the table and the plate flipped over and landed on my lap then tumbled onto the floor. That's not my best story, but I thought it was more interesting than the new demo line-up this week.
With former publisher Acclaim long since bust and memories of Turok: Evolution as few as they ever were favourable, Touchstone Games' 2008 Turok gets the benefit of a fresh start, even if Propaganda Games' narrative rebuild is anything but: space marines shot down on a hostile planet, anyone? As Joseph Turok, a Native American black-ops knife specialist new to his unit, you're tasked with hunting down Roland Kane, of whose Wolf Pack unit you were once part.
After a few middling cut-scenes and a brief button tutorial dressed up as a flight through a spaceship under fire, you're dumped in the jungle. An Unreal Engine 3-powered first-person shooter with some stealthy knife-kill bits, Turok pits you against Kane's endless army of fascist goons in fancy dress and the rather more savage indigenous population of velociraptors, tyrannosaurs and other grumpy lizards. The dinos are the more versatile of your enemies - harder to spot than the humans and prone to spawning behind you (sorry, "flanking"), they move quickly and unpredictably, pouncing from trees and rocky crevices, and filling the air with grunts and growls that advertise each new area's expected enmity.
To tackle them, you have an arsenal of meaty weapons, including shotgun, assault, pulse and sniper rifles, and eventually a flamethrower, but Turok's best weapons are his knife and bow. The latter is both silent and devastating, given time to aim, but the knife is the more exciting, allowing you to sneak through the visual cover of long-grass to dispatch the goons, or even dinos. Yes, you can stealth-kill raptors, leaping onto their backs to slit their throats (quite why Muldoon didn't think of this...), or plunge the knife into their heads as they move toward you. Anything that lives can be melee-killed if you tug the right-trigger button when prompted (including unsuspecting herbivores - harsh), and the cut-away third-person animation is a gruesome reward reminiscent of Gears of War's chainsaw bayonet slayings, or the counter-attacks in Assassin's Creed. Propaganda also fords the bloody river between mid-to-long-range projectile engagement and knifey throat-slitting with the occasional QTE button-mash - allowing you to fight off raptor mauls by matching randomised prompts for waggling the analogue stick or hammering the triggers.
It's been another bare week for demos. But I stood up on a surfboard in the freezing cold waters of Cornwall. That made me happy, at least until I fell off and hit my back on a rock and tried not to cry. You could say I had a bit of conflict with the water, which is interesting, as Conflict: Denied Ops is one of the new samplers to tell you about.
Touchstone has confirmed it will remove a feature in Turok which rewards players for murderising their team-mates.
As reported by Wired, the 'Grab Bag' achievement is earned by killing at least one creature, enemy, team-mate and yourself during an online match. Having realised this is rubbish, Touchstone will issue a patch to amend the achievement so you don't have to take out a team-mate to get the points.
The patch will be out the same day as the game - 8th February - so you'll have to download it before you can play Turok online.
Those PlayStation 3 owning dinosaur-lovers among you who are "a bit slow" in the old downloading US demos directly department will be pleased to hear that the PAL version of last Thursday's American Turok demo is currently on course for a 7th February release on PSN.

You can tell a lot about a game by its subtitle. Take the Turok series of dinosaur-themed shooters, inspired by the adventure comics of the same name. First there was Dinosaur Hunter: blunt, functional, dynamic and serious. It told you everything you needed to know about this punchy, atmospheric jungle FPS, a Nintendo 64 launch title. Then came Seeds of Evil and Shadow of Oblivion: epic, suggestive, but ultimately insubstantial. They sounded exciting but dissolved into nothing more than meaningless internal rhymes if you thought about them too hard, just as the two sequels lost their way in a maelstrom of nonsensical plotting and overwrought gore.
Propaganda Games and Touchstone's upcoming console version of Turok will also be appearing on Windows PCs, those involved announced this morning.
Disney has named the Hollywood stars picked to lend their vocals to characters in the upcoming Turok game.

The last time we saw Turok... In fact, let's just leave that alone. The latest stab at dino-shooting comes from Vancouver-based Propaganda Games and publisher Disney Interactive, and transplants the action to a far-away world where dinosaurs are only half the trouble. With the game nearing the end of development, we caught up with Propaganda co-founder and studio manager Josh Holmes and game director Joel Manners to talk about their plans.
More details about Turok for Xbox 360 and PS3 have been excavated this afternoon, uncovering multiplayer support for up to 16 people, which doesn't appear to be as straightforward as it seems.
