Sony releases "the ultimate balance update" for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Thought the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was over? Sony Santa Monica has released a huge update for the brawler that makes sweeping balance changes to the entire roster of characters.

In a blog post Santa Monica Studio called it "the ultimate balance update". It includes over 100 balance adjustments across all characters as well as gameplay improvements. "This update truly creates a new playing field for all challengers," the developer added.

The update also unlocks third costumes for Zeus and Isaac for players who own them.

Sony has announced new downloadable characters for brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

The characters are Isaac Clarke from Dead Space and Zeus from God of War. Zeus is a heavy hitting character along the lines of Big Daddy from BioShock. Sony Santa Monica lead designer Seth Killian said his offense revolves around fewer but more powerful strikes. He can power up his attacks into a charged version, which adds new effects.

Isaac is described as a strong mid-range character who uses his trademark Kinesis and Stasis abilities to keep enemies out of his face. He can use his Plasma Cutter to attack, throw proximity mines and freeze opponents with Stasis.

PlayStation Vita is nearing its first birthday, and to celebrate Sony has launched a decent sale on games.

The sale starts tomorrow, 6th February and runs for two weeks. There's up to 50 per cent off Vita games, with further discounts for PS Plus subscribers.

Highlights include PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale for 15, Rayman Origins for 15 and Everybody's Golf for seven quid.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta out this Wednesday for PS Plus members

The PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta launches in Europe on Wednesday, 17th October for PS Plus members, Sony announced on the PlayStation Blog.

Everyone else gets it a week later, on 24th October. Grab it from the PlayStation Store.

PS Vita owners can play the beta from tomorrow - no need for a Plus subscription. The beta supports Cross-Play, so PS3 and Vita owners can play against each other.

Sony's upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale may sound like a clusterf*** of characters from different universes who don't really look right together on the box with their divergent art styles colliding, but developer SuperBot is aiming to stay true to the cast by having BioShock creator Ken Levine write the script for the Big Daddy and Little Sister characters.

Sony has confirmed Evil Cole for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale with a new gameplay trailer.

Evil Cole is taken from the inFamous series, and is what your friendly neighbourhood Cole MacGrath turns into if led down the dark path. He can use the power of The Beast once his energy has reached maximum level, and he can suck AP out of the other players using Ionic Drain. His play style is described as offense heavy, with fire and electricity long range attacks and incendiary strikes for up close.

Confirmation of Evil Cole comes as no surprise. He was part of a list of characters leaked for the PlayStation exclusive brawler.

PlayStation All Stars pushed back a month

But still arriving before the world ends.

Brand-name brawler PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale has been pushed back a month to 23rd November in the UK and Ireland, while the rest of Europe gets it on the 21st, Australia on the 22nd and North America beats everyone to the punch by getting it 20th November.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale release date set for October

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is slated for an October release on both PS3 and Vita, Sony has announced.

The game will be out on 23rd October in North America, and the following day in Europe with some exceptions - it will be the 25th in Australia and New Zealand, and 26th in the UK & Ireland.

Sony reiterated that pre-orders will net players exclusive costumes, with a couple more to be revealed tonight at 2 a.m. BST during SCEA's Exhibition Presentation at EVO. In the meantime, the roster is comprised of alternate costumes for Nathan Drake, Big Daddy, Sweet Tooth, Sly Cooper, Fat Princess, Parappa the Rapper, Deimos, and Mael Radec.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale confirmed for Vita

Cross-platform play coming to Sony brawler, Nathan Drake and Big Daddy confirmed.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, the tongue-twisting brawler that stars some of Sony's highest profile mascots, has been confirmed for the PlayStation Vita - and it will allow cross-platform play with the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

The game is being created by independent developer SuperBot, and takes its cues from Nintendo's Smash Bros. series, pitting recognizable faces against each other in hectic four-player battles.

Characters such as Twisted Metal's Sweet-tooth, God of War's Kratos and Fat Princess's, er, Fat Princess all feature in the game, and Sony's slowly drip-feeding the rest of the roster in the run-up to the game's release.

The news comes from the online CV of a sound designer at Sony Computer Entertainment America.

Said employee lists the game for release on PlayStation 3 (announced) and PS Vita (unannounced).

Sony has confirmed its answer to Smash Bros.: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

It's a four-player, 2D brawler exclusive to PlayStation 3 and due out later this year. Characters include Kratos, Parappa the Rapper, Fat Princess, and Sweet Tooth.

It's also developer SuperBot Entertainment's debut game - indeed the studio was handpicked to create the fighter. "PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale existed as an idea in the hearts of gamers way before SuperBot got around to making it, and the expectations of the fans are really what drive us," game director Omar Kendall said. "This game is a labor of love, and we're excited to be able to finally show it."
