Paradox has decided to give PC adventure game Penumbra: Black Plague an expansion.
Dubbed Requiem, it will be put together by series developer Frictional Games and be out this June on digital distribution site GamersGate.
"After the launch of Penumbra: Black Plague we realised that we still had some unfinished ideas for features and storyline that we wanted to implement. An expansion like this will be the perfect end to a series that has given both us and the players so much," said Jens Nilsson, boss at Frictional Games.
Let's talk hexes. Not voodoo curses, or indeed well spoken old flames, but military hexagons. Fantasy Wars is a traditional hex wargame set in a rather retro-looking world of swords, sorcery, orcs, goblins and magic helmets.
As you might expect, it's a turn-based strategy affair, and it bears some deeper tactical mechanics. For example, a zone of control (or ZOC as abbreviation fans will know it) is in place here, meaning a unit's movement is halted as soon as it enters a hex next to an enemy. Archers will provide support fire for any adjacent unit that is attacked during the opposition's turn, so the positioning of your army is an important consideration.
On Friday, I cut some ham too close to the edge of the table and the plate flipped over and landed on my lap then tumbled onto the floor. That's not my best story, but I thought it was more interesting than the new demo line-up this week.
