MGS: Peace Walker sneaks off of Games on Demand

Microsoft working on a fix. "Please wait for a while."

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD has mysteriously been removed from Microsoft's Games on Demand channel on Xbox Live after having just been added to the service on 28th August.

Kojima fans with an aversion to boxes are in luck as Konami has confirmed that the HD collections of Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders will also receive a digital release.

Sony is remastering select PlayStation Portable games for release in high definition on PlayStation 3.

These Blu-ray disc games come with bonus content and in some cases stereoscopic 3D visuals.

The first game to get the PSP Remaster treatment is action role-playing game Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, due out in Japan in the summer. A trailer is below.

PES, MGS:PW, Castlevania sales praised

Konami pledges support for NGP, 3DS.

Japanese publisher Konami has praised PES 2011, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Castlevania Lords of Shadow for selling well over the last year.

In its report for the financial year ending 31st March, Konami said it enjoyed "solid" sales of video games with contributions from PES 2011, PlayStation Portable game Peace Walker and action game Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

PES 2011 launched in October 2010 to improved review scores. Eurogamer's PES 2011 review turned up a 7/10.

Kojima shows Metal Gear Solid 4 on NGP

"We can enjoy same quality as PS3."

Legendary game developer Hideo Kojima marched onto the Sony stage this morning to show a jaw-dropping demonstration of Metal Gear Solid 4 running on the PSP2 - known now as the NGP (Next Generation Portable).

When Hideo Kojima releases a Metal Gear Solid game, Konami's bank balance explodes. That didn't happen with PSP game Peace Walker, but Konami takes solace in the fact it was at least "well received by hardcore Metal Gear fans".

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has tweeted to say he'll make an announcement about something or other this weekend.

Before you get your knickers in a twist, know this: it has nothing to do with Zone of the Enders 3.

"Typhoon 4. It looks like it won't have an effect on the weekend. Thank goodness! However, my health is bad. Prior to TGS, we'll have a big announcement on Saturday or Sunday, so I must recover," he said (translated by Andriasang).

MGS PSP sales "progressed steadily"

Castlevania, PES to do autumn business.

Sales of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker have "progressed steadily" after the game received "favourable reviews", according to Konami.

Hideo Kojima's PSP game helped Konami boost net income for the three months ended 30th June to 1.27 billion yen. That's an increase of 245 per cent on the same period last year.

The company pointed out that "[MGS: Peace Walker] became the first PSP title to receive a perfect score of 40 points in an industry magazine's cross review". That's Famitsu, in case you're wondering. Eurogamer also liked the game.

Hideo Kojima has said that Zone of the Enders 3 has been "sort of pushed to the back" due to "various things", meaning we probably won't see it for an age.

Hideo Kojima has said that he gets "a lot of love calls" about Zone of the Enders and really hopes he can make another one as well.

Speaking at gamescom in an interview finally whacked up by the European PlayStation blog, Kojima said that his studio had a long list of possible future projects, "and of course Zone of the Enders is one of the... on top of the list".

"We are really considering it," he added. Although Kojima spoke through a translator, there's a great bit in the video where first he hears the words "Zone of the Enders" in English and breaks into a huge grin.
