It's called PlayStation in Concert and will feature an 80-piece Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, plus City of London Choir, bringing PlayStation music to life. Oh, and a light show.

Naughty Dog clarifies The Last of Us 2 rumours

"We were working on stuff, but we don't know what we're doing next."

Last week Naughty Dog accidentally referred to its hit post-apocalyptic epic as "the first The Last of Us" and voice actor Nolan North had previously let it slip that a sequel was in development. But that's not necessarily the case as the studio has recently clarified.

"Did I say the first The Last of Us?"

Naughty Dog all but confirmed that a sequel to The Last of Us is in the works.

During a livestream of the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection writer Josh Scherr said, "All the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led up by Eric [Baldwin, lead animator] here. All the facial animation in the Uncharted games and the first The Last of Us- uh, did I say the first The Last of Us? The first Last of Us. The Last of Us. The first Last of Us. The Last of Us was also keyframe animation."

Baldwin couldn't help but laugh at this point while community strategist Eric Monacelli stuck to the script and pretended nothing had happened, quickly changing the subject to the Left Behind DLC.

The Last of Us' new multiplayer DLC executions are PS4-exclusive

The Last of Us is getting some slick new multiplayer DLC this week with a bevy of new weapons, skills, items, outfits, gestures, and special executions. While most of these add-ons can be purchased for either the PS3 or PS4 versions of the game, some of the new executions are PS4-exclusive due to "memory constraints" with Sony's older hardware.

"We had to exclude some sets from the PS3 version of the game due to memory constraints on the hardware," said Naughty Dog community strategist Eric Monacelli on the official The Last of Us site. "Yes, it seems with our latest add-ons we're squeezing every last ounce of memory the PS3 has to run our Factions mode."

The PS4-exclusive special executions are for the rifle, automatic rifle, and ground shiv, Sony has confirmed to Eurogamer.

Naughty Dog has confirmed the European version of The Last of Us is censored.

In the US version of the game, the multiplayer features dismemberment and exploding heads. The European version's multiplayer does not.

Eurogamer's US news editor Jeffrey Matulef, who, as you'd expect, is playing the North American version, has found that executions with certain weapons trigger exploding heads. The execution with the "Shorty", a sawed-off shotgun, blows your opponent's head clean off in the US version. In our version, we get a blood spurt.

Naughty Dog apologises to cartographer after he spots his copyrighted map in The Last of Us

"Companies like Naughty Dog are worried about software piracy, designers like me are worried about ethical and fair usage of our work."

Portland-based cartographer Cameron Booth was alerted to quite the surprise the other day when someone pointed out that his unofficial map of the Boston subway system was copy and pasted into Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic epic, The Last of Us. As it turns out "unofficial" and "public domain" aren't quite the same thing and Booth's map was copyrighted after all. Uh oh!

It didn't quite match the opening sales of Uncharted 3, although Uncharted 3 was granted an earlier midweek launch - meaning it was on sale for more days - and arrived in the prime November sales season.

The Last of Us ending details leak online

Be careful - plot details and ending information for Naughty Dog's The Last of Us have been posted online.

The leaks stem from a demo version of the game included with God of War: Ascension. Users who cracked open its files were able to extract a list of spoilery filenames for all of The Last of Us' cutscenes.

From the looks of them, it's likely that the filenames were only intended to be seen by the game's developers. They identify the fate of several characters and hint heavily at The Last of Us' ending.

The Last of Us demo that comes with God of War: Ascension won't be available until two weeks before launch

Still no word on if a demo will be released for the rest of the public.

Back in January Sony sweetened the pot for prospective God of War: Ascension purchasers by promising those who bought first-run editions of Kratos' upcoming adventure would get an early demo for Naughty Dog's highly anticipated survival drama The Last of Us.

Well, technically speaking, that is true. However, Naughty Dog just revealed over Twitter that The Last of Us' demo won't be available until 31st May, only two weeks before its 14th June launch - and over three weeks later than its previously scheduled 7th May release date.

There's still no word on whether or not a The Last of Us demo will be released to the general non-Ascension buying public.

The Last of Us trailer spawns new gameplay footage

The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog has shown new gameplay footage from its post-apocalyptic adventure, this time focusing on the threat of its Infected enemies.

The Infected aren't zombies, Naughty Dog is keen to make clear. They are living humans slowly being taken over by the plague-like fungus.

They look like a cross between Davy Jones' barnacled crew from Pirates of the Caribbean and a tentacle-head from Resident Evil.

Features horseback riding, probably.

A new trailer for The Last of Us has premiered during the VGAs revealing the release date as 7th May.

We could also see protagonists Joel and Ellie on a horse at one point, suggesting horseback riding will come into play. We also see that player character Joel was seemingly in a relationship with a woman named Tess that ostensibly did not hold up during the zombie apocalypse - if she even survived.

Naughty Dog's highly anticipated new IP is coming out exclusively on PS3. [Editor's note: the trailer has been removed. Sorry!]

New The Last of Us trailer portrays its lead in a different light

New The Last of Us trailer portrays its lead in a different light

Set to Hank Williams Sr.'s Alone and Forsaken.

A new trailer for Naughty Dog's upcoming The Last of Us has emerged from Sony's Gamescom press event in which we see an even nastier side of protagonist Joel who already bashed people's faces in until they were nothing but a puddle of mush.

Set to the tune of Hank William Sr.'s Alone and Forsaken we see Joel engage in a series of brutal smackdowns as he and his charge Ellie attempt to track their way through the post-apocalyptic ruins of Pittsburgh.

When Ellie asks Joel how he knew about the ambush he solemnly remarks that he's been on both sides, suggesting he used to be a rather bloodthirsty bandit himself. You don't learn to fight like that filling out tax reports, after all.

Sony: why we're launching new IP this late in the console cycle

Sony: why we're launching new IP this late in the console cycle

"It is part of the role of a platform holder," insists Andrew House.

Sony was one of the few major publishers to launch brand new core IP at this year's E3 show, debuting Quantic Dream's Beyond: Two Souls and showing more of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us.

Why, when perceived wisdom dictates that new IP has the best chance of success at the beginning of a console's life span, was it spending big on two risky new brands this late in the current hardware generation?

According to incoming PlayStation CEO Andrew House, Sony believes it's the duty of the platform holder to continue to offer new experiences and attempt to bring in new players.

Changes to The Last of Us' Ellie and announcement of Ellen Page in Beyond are "complete coincidence"

Naughty Dog "didn't realise" she resembled the famous actor, says game director.

Naughty Dog has said that it's a "complete coincidence" that the studio changed the appearance of Ellie in The Last of Us after she was said to resemble Ellen Page - and before the actress was confirmed as the star of Beyond: Two Souls this week.

Both games are published by Sony - The Last of Us by Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Beyond by the European branch. Both are due to be released for PS3 next year.

"We didn't event know what was going on with that," The Last of Us' game director, Bruce Straley, told Eurogamer at E3. "We don't know what's going on with other games."

"After delving further into the game's narrative over the past few months, we decided to modify Ellie's model to better reflect Ashley's personality, and also resemble a slightly younger teen more fitting to the story," Druckmann explained. "We're happy with the final result shown in the cinematic we have released today, and hope the fans like her too."

Sony US boss Tretton downplays PS4 2012 announcement

Uses that "hitting its stride" phrase for PS3 again.

It's sounding increasingly unlikely that Sony will announce PlayStation 4 this year.

Wise-cracking Sony US leader Jack Tretton told IGN that "I don't want to be thinking about trying to launch new technology any time soon", and said he'd be "very distracted" talking about next-gen hardware this year.

"In terms of when you talk about [the next generation] and when you announce it, it really depends on the health of the existing platform and the other things you have going on," tremoloed Tretton.

Naughty Dog promises it won't end on a cliffhanger.

Naughty Dog has talked in detail for the first time about the plot of forthcoming PlayStation 3 survival adventure The Last of Us.

As seen in a clip on GameInformer, game director Bruce Straley and creative director Neil Druckmann explained that the game takes place 20 years after a virus outbreak decimates the world's population.

Survivors huddle together in a number of military-run safe zones, where times are hard and life is cheap. Inhabitants are executed for the most minor infractions and anyone who screens positive for the virus is immediately euthanised.
