Blue Omega Entertainment has laid of its games development team.
UFC 2009: Undisputed debuts at the top of the UK All-Formats chart this week, abruptly halting the record-breaking top-spot attempt by Wii Fit.
Contrary to popular opinion, we critics are not a pinch-faced brood of grinchy old killjoys, no longer able to recognise the simple notion of "fun" as we hungrily plot to eviscerate the next hapless game that crosses our path. Quite the opposite. When you spend much of your working life playing games, you can't help but look for the best in everything, trying to find that glimmer of worth to justify the investment of time and money each game demands of our shared audience.
It's not always easy.
Case in point: Damnation, a steampunk third-person shooter that has swaggered into town, kicked open the swinging doors of the saloon and making bold claims of revolutionising its genre with acrobatic "vertical" gameplay. It does nothing of the sort, of course, but unfortunately puffed-up PR promises are far from the worst sins committed here.
Codemasters has announced that it will release Blue Omega's steampunk action game Damnation for PC, 360 and PS3 on 22nd May.
Codemasters has told Eurogamer that third-person shooter Damnation has slipped to early 2009. We had expected the game this winter.
Damnation developer Blue Omega reckons there was "no frigging way" BioShock should have ended up being successful.
"Damnation" is what people used to say in the '30s when they meant "f***". These days though it's a third-person shooter that's somewhere in amongst the crossfire between Gears of War and Prince of Persia, occasionally winking at Quake 3.
Developer Blue Omega has said the Damnation campaign will support co-operative play for you and a friend.
Its inclusion was expected after the Wild West-inspired third-person shooter was unveiled by Codemasters earlier this month.
Blue Omega also went on to give details of the goal behind the enormous levels that will feature up to three hours of content each.
Codemasters has unveiled a new shooter called Damnation for PC, PS3 and 360.
It's due out this winter and is described as Gears of War meets Prince of Persia meets the Wild West.
You play as Rourke but appear to be followed around by a female companion who we expect will be co-op controllable, although specific multiplayer options are yet to be detailed.
Shooter gone vertical.
