In May 2013 Microsoft teased a new entry in the Crackdown series with a tiny image shown during the company's Xbox One reveal event, but we haven't heard anything about it since - despite some hoping it would be announced at Gamescom this week.

Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian Games has revealed the first gameplay footage of its new project, Tribal Towers.

The title sees players competing to build the highest structure.

As well as some World of Goo-style building there are other support structures to use, such as huts for extra villagers who aid your construction, or a sawmill to process wood.

Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian announces Tribal Towers

"We're not working on Crackdown 3."

Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian Games has announced its new game, Tribal Towers.

It is not working on Crackdown 3, it confirmed in a blog post.

"I know, I know it's as shocking as finding out your favourite lasagne is chock-a-block with Red Rum's offspring," Ruffian co-founder Billy Thomson wrote.

Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian Games has outlined a fix for the recently released Toy Box add-on following reports that the DLC stops the game from working.

Microsoft's announced the first add-on content for Ruffian Games' excellent Xbox 360 exclusive Crackdown 2, due out soon.

It's called Toy Box, and, according to the official blurb, offers free content as well as paid for gubbins.

The free content gives all Crackdown 2 owners the new Vehicle Tag mode, a level six ability reward and the Keys to the City.

StarCraft II US sales monstrous

Best-selling game in July.

Blizzard's science fiction real-time strategy game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty obliterated sales of all other games released in the US in July, NPD said.

It sold an eye-watering 721,000 units at retail. StarCraft II was released on 27th July, so those sales were achieved in just five days.

StarCraft II is the fastest-selling strategy game ever.

Reckons other openworlds are a bit samey.

Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian has said it wants to make a "disruptive" game that advances the openworld genre in a way that its peers so far have not.

Ruffian Games' Crackdown 2 may not be out until 9th July, but a demo version of the Xbox 360-exclusive third-person openworld effort is due today.

US magazine Game Informer has exclusively revealed the first detail on Crackdown 2, Microsoft's Xbox 360 action sequel in development at Ruffian Games, a splinter of original studio Realtime Worlds.
