Assassin's Creed Liberation HD confirmed for 2014 release

Vita exclusive remastered for PC, PS3, Xbox 360.

A new version of PlayStation Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed Liberation will be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year, Ubisoft has announced.

The remake's existance was revealed last week when logos for a number of Ubisoft's upcoming digital titles were leaked online.

Once again developed by Ubisoft Sofia, Liberation HD has been reworked graphically to appear closer to Assassin's Creed 3. Audio, AI and facial animations have also been reworked.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's PlayStation-exclusive levels have been shown off in more detail by developer Ubisoft.

The content features an older Aveline de Grandpré, the heroine of last year's PlayStation Vita title Assassin's Creed: Liberation, and will be written by that game's lead scribe Jill Murray.

The hour-long "short story" is divided into three bonus missions for PlayStation 3 and 4 owners, and will pick up a while after Liberation's conclusion.

Far Cry 3 sales hit 4.5 million as Ubisoft revenues soar

Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation notches up 600k.

Tropical shooter Far Cry 3 has now sold more than 4.5 million copies, publisher Ubisoft has announced.

The company's Q3 financial results also revealed that PlayStation Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation had scored 600,000 sales. Just Dance 4 boogied past the 8 million milestone.

All of these were dwarfed by the phenomenal success of Assassin's Creed 3, which has now sold 12 million copies - a 60 per cent increase on Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

UK chart: Assassin's Creed 3 top, second biggest launch of the year

Ubisoft's leap of faith rewarded with best sales of the series.

Assassin's Creed 3 has topped the UK charts with the best sales of the series to date. It was the biggest launch in publisher Ubisoft's history and the second biggest launch of any game in the UK this year (behind FIFA 13).

It doubled the launch week sales of Assassin's Creed 2, and beat last year's Revelations by over 117,000 copies.

Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation trailer makes the Big Easy look easy

The Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation has shown off a good bit of gameplay in this new trailer just released by Ubisoft.

The trailer follows new character Aveline, who must use her hereditary assassin skills to ward of Spanish forces set on taking over the South during the Louisiana Rebellion around 1768.

At the end of the trailer, the Mysteries of the Bayou pack is revealed as a pre-order bonus. This includes a ceremonial dagger, alligator hunting hat, upgraded poison dart pouch and a "Mackandal bodyguard" as a multiplayer character.

Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation Vita link-up bonuses detailed.

Assassin's Creed 3 will get PlayStation 3-exclusive DLC at the game's release, Ubisoft has announced, after demoing an impressive new naval warfare section of the game.

The deal is similar to how Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood on PS3 got the Copernicus Conspiracy mission on day-one, too.

Freshly-leaked PlayStation Vita title Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation has also been revealed by Ubisoft, live on stage at Sony's E3 press conference.
