It's been called a lot of things already. Perhaps it's the best zombie game ever made. To others it's an increasingly rare Actual New Game. Playing it is nothing if not memorable. All this and DayZ is still in alpha.

New features and fixes for Bohemia's PC shooter.

PC shooter ArmA 2 gets a massive Christmas update today encompassing all expansions and DLC, Bohemia Interactive has announced.

New additions include an FXAA anti-aliasing mode for Operation Arrowhead, alongside a number of performance tweaks and bug fixes.

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead

Speech given by Tim Stone to army of potential Operation Arrowhead buyers, on 30th June 2010 (with apologies to Tim Collins and the Royal Irish Regiment):

We go to Takistan to liberate, not to conquer. We will not fly flags in their country, but we may fly Apaches, Black Hawks, Chinooks, Little Birds and A-10s. We may also drive M1A2 tanks, Bradleys, Strykers, Humvees, and the odd tractor and Lada. This is an ArmA II expansion pack after all.

The enemy should be in no doubt that we are his nemesis and that we are bringing about his rightful destruction. Saddam-substitute Colonel Aziz and his forces will be destroyed by this coalition for what they have done. Seizing the oilfields of peace-loving Karzhegistan is a heinous act and an unlawful one. It's also rather unoriginal, but that's neither here nor there.

Essential equipment for the survival-minded Takistani insurgent: AK-47, IED, IED transportation device (wheelbarrow), spade, foil firefighting suit. Without that last item Mr. Boom-Bastage is going to stick out like a sore thumb when up to nocturnal no-good. Thanks to the super-real thermal imaging that is one of this standalone expansion's most eye-catching features, doing dastardly things in the dark can actually be more dangerous than doing them in the daylight.

ArmA II expansion gets worldwide date

End of June for Operation Arrowhead.

Bohemia Interactive has confirmed to Eurogamer that ArmA II expansion Operation Arrowhead will be released worldwide on 29th June.

The expansion is set three years after the events of the main game and sees players fighting in the streets and mountains of Takistan.

Despite being an expansion Operation Arrowhead is a standalone effort.
