Free prizes for MGO newcomers

Konami runs Rookie Campaign.

Konami has unleashed a Rookie Campaign for Metal Gear Online, which rewards newcomers with thousands of in-game points to spend on crocodile hats, afro hairdos and camouflage suits.

Only those who have never registered or installed the PS3 multiplayer shooter will be eligible for the 5000 point giveaway, and the offer closes on 16th February, according to the official website.

That, as we've told you before, is the same day the free MGO demo disappears from the PlayStation Network, having been available since Christmas Eve.

The sampler offers up three maps - Blood Bath, Gronznyi Grad and Midtown Maelstrom - and several modes to play them on. Up to 16 people can play online, and creative types can even customise characters.
