Fortnite Skull Trooper objectives and how to unlock the Ghost Portal backbling

What it takes to unlock the Ghost Portal back bling when you get the Skull Trooper outfit in Fortnite.

Fortnite's Skull Trooper is an outfit with progressive unlockable - the Ghost Portal back bling.

While previous progressive outfits like Drift and Ragnarok have been tied to the arrival and purchase of a Season Pass, Skull Trooper is a standalone premium outfit with additional unlocks.

Fortnite's Skull Trooper outfit and Ghost Portal back bling explained

Skull Trooper - like Drift and Tomatohead before it - is an outfit unlocked from the in-game store for 1,500 V-Bucks.

Once it has been purchased, every style will be available to be used. This includes a glow-in-the-dark look, and for those who owned the original Skull Trooper previously, an exclusive purple style.

You also can then start completing a set of challenges to unlock the Ghost Portal back bling. This too has several styles - including an exclusive purple appearance exclusive to original skin owners.

To make things a little easier around launch, if you simply complete 20 matches by Sunday October 14th, then it'll unlock the following week:

Why is the Ghost Portal back bling so interesting?

It's reported to spit out ghostly images of other skins, such as Brite Bomber, as well as have a glowing swirling portal in its centre (thanks TheUnboundChannelZ on reddit for this).

It should be noted that Skull Ranger - which appeared alongside the return of Skull Trooper - does not have these challenges or Back Bling unlock.

It's a bit of a shame, and possibly explains the differences in pricing - 1,500 V-Bucks versus 1,200 V-Bucks.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 is here! It brings a free Lego Insider skin and redemption codes with it, along with a new Victory Umbrella. We've also got pages on new features like Medallions, Weapon Mods, and how to complete a Train Heist. Meanwhile, learn what the best weapons are in the current season, how to get XP fast, and what the best PC settings are to help earn a Victory Crown.
