FlatOut and Ridge Racer: Unbounded dev's next car game out on PC early 2014

Pre-order for early access to pre-alpha code later this year.

FlatOut and Ridge Racer: Unbounded developer Bugbear Entertainment has announced its Next Car Game (they still haven't decided on a name) will be released on PC as a download in early 2014.

Early access to a pre-alpha build will be given to all who pre-order on the Next Car Game website.

Bugbear described it as "all about fun, breakneck racing and over-the-top crashes".

"We don't shy away from contact, and indeed, our in-house engine is all about what happens when cars collide with each other and the world around them at reckless speeds," the developer added.

"Expect epic crashes and tight, neck-to-neck fights over the finish line on run-down racing tracks. Expect proper, big DEMOLITION DERBIES. Expect brand new ways for metal to bend and the defining once-in-the-lifetime moments that can be achieved only with true-to-life physics simulation." There will also be a focus on car building and maintenance, adding a tactical element to proceedings.

Bugbear's Creative Director and CEO, Janne Alanenpää, said: "We've been overwhelmed by the excited fan reaction to the teaser trailer we released in February. It showed us that there's a dedicated fan base out there that are long overdue for a game that they want.

"That lead us to think that we should make the game together with the fans, to make sure they will have the game they want."
