Firefly reveals Stronghold 3

"Gird your loins," apparently.

British developer Firefly has announced castle-building game Stronghold 3, the, er, sixth game in the long-running series.

SouthPeak will publish it on PC in spring 2011.

This new game promises "a significantly improved" engine that will look better and introduce fresh "gameplay elements".

And for now that's all there is to know. A teaser website, which tells us to "gird our loins", is up, as is a Facebook Stronghold 3 page.

Stronghold first appeared in 2001. Luckily, Eurogamer existed, and so we reviewed the game and deemed it worthy of 7/10. Sequel Stronghold 2 turned up three years later and was appraised to the tune of 6/10.

There have been spin-offs between major instalments, including - more recently - Stronghold Kingdoms, an MMO. This will be free-to-play and launch this year.
