Final Fantasy 15 Episode Gladiolus - Path to Perdition, how to beat the Enkidu boss for the On Wings of Fire trial

How to complete the second Trial in the DLC episode.

Path to Perdition is the second Trial in the Final Fantasy 15 Episode Gladiolus DLC, following on from The Well-Tempered Gladio and Nergal boss.

It introduces a new column smashing mechanic, some new enemies and your first challenging foe yet, the Enkidu.

If you're after help for parts of the DLC, consult our Final Fantasy 15 Episode Gladiolus DLC guide and walkthrough.

While each page will discuss them, we also have a page of item locations for the Picker-Upper Trophy / Achievement, too.

The Well-Tempered Gladio

After the battle against the Nergal there's a campground, where you can rest for another cutscene.

Get the Phoenix Down from the wall to the north then continue south, grabbing the item from the right before the wooden path leading up the cliffside for another item.

At the top of the cliff, the path going further up is destroyed with a Wyvern pacing above. Get the Potion underneath the wooden struts, and take the lower path round the cliffside.

Get the Hi-Potion behind the crate on the left, then climb up the two walls. Grab the Hi-Potion against the south cliff edge, then head north on this higher path to face the Wyvern and some Bulettes.

Just as you approach, you learn of the column mechanic. In short, this has you pull them out the ground and swing them to defeat enemies. There's a Trophy in doing this at every possible opportunity, so be sure to keep an eye out for them as you go.

There are four columns here, so uproot a new one as they are destroyed. There's not much strategy here - just bash each enemy with them to quickly clear the field.

There are some more Bulettes that pour through the wall as you advance, but just come back to this clifftop, grab another column and repeat. Make sure you uproot all four columns here, grab the Potion just next to the steps, then crawl through the passage above.

At the top of the stairs, grab the Potion on the left, then continue round the corner for the second Trial Chamber.

On Wings of Fire - defeat the Enkidu boss

This is a really tough battle with some really powerful attacks that can one shot or take down the majority of you health in one go.

Keep a safe middle distance so you can read what the beast is doing, and avoid a powerful area of effect flame burst that can strike you down quickly.

If and when you can, sprint round the back of the beast and attempt to blindside, before retreating again, but also be sure to keep your shield up as much as you can and watch out for when it rises in the air.

Need more help? Our Final Fantasy 15 guide and walkthrough can provide tips on main story, as well as the open-world's many quests and activities. Learning how to get AP fast, EXP fast and money or Gil fast will aid you in many optional dungeons and tombs - including how to open and explore their locked doors. There's also plenty of interesting side-quests, too, such as the Scraps of Mystery and Professors Protege frog locations. And if you want to get around easier, you can rent a Chocobo, learn the infinite sprint trick and later in the game, get the flying car Regalia Type F. There's also more to see and do with DLC, such as Episode Gladiolus and Episode Prompto.

Lock on, raise your shield and walk backwards to limit the impact of the fireballs and dive that's due to follow. You'll take some damage either way, but it means you'll be away from the impact and somewhat shielded.

We died a few times in this fight, but you should have plenty of Phoenix Downs and Potions if you've been actively exploring the dungeon so far, more than enough to see you through the battle.

It's worth noting there are two columns you can uproot too. Despite their high damage dealing properties, found they left us open to attack - especially if you get one, and the beast flies into the air - so we'd avoid relying on them. Just make sure you actually uproot them once the fight is over if you're after the Trophy / Achievement.

After the battle, climb over the wall into a room where you can redeem the soul to receive the Maelstrom Glaive Art when valor is high. Before you leave, head to the south and grab the Potion, then continue on to Know Thine Enemy and the Humbaba boss, the third trial.
