El Shaddai announced for Android

Mobile version is 2D side-scroller.

Offbeat biblical beat-'em-up El Shaddai is to be shrunk onto phones wot use Android.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron (Android Versions), as it's called, will be a 2D side-scrolling affair, reported Famitsu (via Andriasang).

There will also be a version for Sony's Xperia Play.

It's unclear whether El Shaddai on mobile will be based off El Shaddai on console, or whether it will be a completely new outing for angelic hero Enoch.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions scored a heavenly 9/10 in Eurogamer's El Shaddai: Acension of the Metatron review. However, the game was largely ignored by shoppers.

A talking point of El Shaddai was the beautifully loopy visuals. Quite how these will translate onto a grubby mobile screen remains to be seen.
