Dying Light developer Techland opens new studio in Vancouver

Headed by Prototype 2's technical director.

Dead Island developer Techland is opening up a new studio in Vancouver, Canada to assist on the development of its open-world zombie parkour game Dying Light.

The new branch, Digital Scapes Studios, will be headed by former Radical Entertainment (Prototype 2, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction) technical director Marcin Chady. This marks Techland's first foray into North American development, as both of Techland's other branches are in Poland.

According to VentureBeat, Digital Scapes will work on "key elements" of Dying Light.

"Starting a studio in Canada opens up a wide range of new opportunities in the realm of game development," said Techland founder Pawel Marchewka.

Chady added, "In operating our business in Vancouver area, we have access to a deep talent pool and quality of educated employees."

Dying Light will be out next year on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. For more info, check out the 12-minute gameplay footage publisher Warner Bros. released of it yesterday.
