Dragon Age Legends taken offline

Facebook game "doesn't make enough revenue to sustain itself".

Dragon Age Legends, a Facebook spin-off from BioWare's fantasy RPG series, goes offline next month, EA has announced.

A blog post on the game's official site revealed that it will be gone for good from 18th June. The reason? It just isn't making enough money.

"This is by no means a reflection on the quality of the game; the awesome team who created it; or the incredible, passionate community who has supported it. The unfortunate reality is that DAL doesn't make enough revenue to sustain itself," read the announcement.

All e-commerce around the game has been turned off and a "massive fire sale" is underway in the game's store to allow players to use what's left of their in-game currency.

Any remaining in-game cash you have in your account after 18th June will not be transferable to other BioWare social titles. However, all players who have logged in during the last three months can claim an exclusive promo pack for BioWare's Age of Champions. That includes a Dragon Age-inspired Champion weapon, a Viscount Ravi army unit, in-game currency and an exclusive medal for your profile page.

A free, downloadable version of Dragon Age Legends will be available after the close-down so users can continue with the single player component of the game.

"While it's never fun to say goodbye, consider it only temporary," added BioWare's blog post.

"We're also hard at work on our next core social projects, and we promise you they will be even more epic than anything we've done before. We hope you'll join us again when they launch."
