LG's NanoCell HDMI 2.1 TVs are the best Prime Day 4K TV deals so far

For that 4K 120Hz goodness on PS5, Xbox Series X or PC.

Amazon's Prime Day 2021 sales have begun, and we've already rounded up some of the best Prime Day deals on PC. Right now though, we wanted to cover the best Prime Day TV deal we've discovered so far: hundreds of pounds off LG's NanoCell line of 4K TVs.

The Nano86 and Nano90 are notable for being the most affordable HDMI 2.1 TVs on the market, allowing them to take advantage of 4K 120Hz gameplay on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC - and now they're available at much lower prices than ever before.

Here are the links and what you need to know!

Compared to other TVs, these NanoCell models are pretty impressive. Instead of relying on VA panels like most LED or LQED TVs, these TVs use IPS panels to provide bright highlights, wide viewing angles and great colours. They also sport very low input lag, which is handy for gaming. The downsides? Contrast is not as good as QLED or OLED sets. Still, for the money, you're going to struggle to find anything better than this for gaming - which is why we named them the best budget 4K 120Hz TVs earlier this year.

Both the Nano86 and Nano90 support full-fat HDMI 2.1, including ALLM (auto low latency mode), VRR (variable refresh rates) and eARC (enhanced audio return channel). The major difference between the two models is that the Nano90 supports full array local dimming (FALD), so there's less blooming around bright objects in dark scenes. The Nano90 makes small strides elsewhere too, with better speakers, higher peak brightness and fast pixel response times. It's a worthwhile upgrade, but you're not missing out on very much with the Nano86 which is already a great TV for gaming - especially as the Nano90 is only available in a gargantuan 75-inch size that's rather more expensive than its 55-inch and 65-inch cousins.

It's also worth remembering that you can get £7 off when you do an Amazon Top Up of £50, so you can reduce the price of any of these TVs (or anything else on Amazon that costs £50 or more) by seven quid.

Let us know what you think of the deal, and stay tuned to @dealsfoundry on Twitter for more Prime Day 2021 deals as we find them!

Digital Foundry specialises in technical analysis of gaming hardware and software, using state-of-the-art capture systems and bespoke software to show you how well games and hardware run, visualising precisely what they're capable of. In order to show you what 4K gaming actually looks like we needed to build our own platform to supply high quality 4K video for offline viewing. So we did.

Our videos are multi-gigabyte files and we've chosen a high quality provider to ensure fast downloads. However, that bandwidth isn't free and so we charge a small monthly subscription fee of £4.50. We think it's a small price to pay for unlimited access to top-tier quality encodes of our content. Thank you.
