Destiny 2 Poor Reception and A Frame Job - how to find and defeat the Voltaic Guard and Graxus, the Blind Captain

Everything you need for tackling some of the first Adventures you'll find in Earth's EDZ.

Poor Reception and A Frame Job are two of the first Adventures you'll unlock in Destiny 2, and are available to play from the European Dead Zone area pretty early on in the game.

Here on this page, we'll give you a rundown of exactly how to unlock and then complete the two low-level adventures, as well as a note of what rewards you can expect for doing so.

Before diving in though, note that for more of the same, and a general overview of how Adventures work, you can take a look at our Destiny 2 Adventures hub, with a list of various other Adventures and links to their respective guides, too.

Destiny 2 - Poor Reception

Poor Reception is a fairly early Adventure, and can be found on Earth in the European Dead Zone (EDZ).

Prerequisites: Complete Calling Them Home..
Recommended power: 20.
Reward: Common (green) loot.

Here's what you need to do to complete the A New Frontier Adventure and tackle Skexis, the Outcast Captain:

  • Investigate the Feedback - Defeat the Fallen on the beach below the start point - it's safest to keep the high ground and take them out from a distance. The Shank will drop an item that you'll need to retrieve.
  • Defend Signal Antenna/Find Feedback Source - Head for the waypoint, and hold off the Fallen until the progress counter reaches 100%. Try and keep them at a fair distance from the antenna - if they get too close it will stop the counter. At around 85% a Signal Engineer will show up.
  • Find Feedback Source - Follow the waypoints to the tunnel entrance and head inside.
  • Continue into the depths.
  • Bypass the Barrier/Defeat the Captain - When you reach the large cavern you'll be assailed by a load of Fallen that you'll need to kill. The Voltaic Guard is heavily shielded, so crack out an Arc (blue) energy weapon.
  • Continue into the depths.
  • Defeat the Captain - Another Voltaic Guard.
  • Continue into the depths.
  • Stop the feedback - Clear out the Fallen in the Cave, and defeat Graxus, Blind Captain; use an Arc energy weapon to damage his shields.

For Season of Plunder, we have the Sails of the Shipstealer quest, Treasure Coordinates and Map Fragments, Cryptic Quatrains and weapons such as the Quicksilver Storm and Taipan 4FR. Meanwhile, there's the arrival of King's Fall and King's Fall challenges, plus weapons including Doom of Chelchis and Touch of Malice. For The Witch Queen, learn how to get Exotics including Dead Messenger and Parasite.

Destiny 2 - A Frame Job

A Frame Job is another of Earth's early Adventures, that can likewise be found in the EDZ.

Prerequisites: Complete Poor Reception.
Recommended power: 20.
Reward: Common (green) loot.

Here's what you need to do to complete the A Frame Job Adventure:

  • Access Fallen Terminal - This is located in one of the buildings near the church.
  • Record Fallen Vocal Fragments - Kill six Fallen enemies and collect the items they drop.
  • Find an Ambush Site - Follow the waypoints.
  • Scan the Explosives - Kill all the Fallen in the warehouse and then interact with the marked area on the floor
  • Get to the Cliffs - Use the teleport device next to the elevator.
  • Prepare the Ambush - Kill the handful of Fallen, and then interact with the marked area.
  • Ambush the Red Legion - he traps you set should take out most of the incoming Fallen, although a few stragglers may get through and need to be killed manually.

With that, you're all done! Head back to our hub for Destiny 2 Adventures if you're looking for more on these.

Otherwise, nicely done, Guardian.
