Dark Souls 2 - Estus Flask Shards, locations, regions, Emerald Herald

Use our guide to track down every single Estus Flask Shard in Dark Souls 2, and increase your chances of surviving even the toughest fights.

Your Estus Flask is your best friend in Dark Souls 2. There to save your sorry backside in a close fight to the death, you'll only be able to fall back on its health-boosting help so many times before it runs out, and you're forced to top it back up again at a bonfire.

Fortunately, there are a number of Estus Flask Shards spread around the game's world, and you can hand them in to the Emerald Herald in Majula to increase the number of times you can make use of your Flask between bonfires.

Here's a breakdown of where you can find each and every one of them.

Estus Flask Shard locations

Brightstone Cove Tseldora

There are two Estus Flask Shards to get your hands on in Brightstone Cove Tseldora. Here's where you can find both of them.

  • There's a hidden wall located just before the fight against the Prowling Magus. Activate the wall, and then head inside to grab the first shard.
  • First make your way to the Lower Brightstone bonfire, then head towards the opposite building. Inside you'll find the second of this region's shards.

Drangleic Castle

Make your way towards the room that contains a pair of knights, a mastadon, and a pack of ranged attackers. Kill everything, then head through the gate to get another essential shard.

Earthen Peak

Assuming you've got plenty of poison-resist equipmentment and restorative items available, take a wander through the poison-drenched corridor in this region. You'll find the Estus Flash Shard at the end of it.

Forest of Fallen Giants

Once you've killed the Last Giant, you'll be given the Soldier Key. Make your way to the Cardinal Tower bonfire in the Forest of the Fallen Giants, then go upstairs and use the key to open the door. Inside you'll find a chest that contains a precious shard.

Lost Bastille

Head to the entrance that leads to the courtyard here and look for the White Knight. Climb down the nearby ladder, then walk along the narrow hallway that's just behind the wooden platforms. Open up the chest you come to to loot another shard.

Majula

Head towards the large house and then look inside the little well that's just outside. If you whack one of the stones in the well, you'll bag yourself an easy extra shard.

No-Man's Wharf

Head to the docks and then find the house that has a smashed up wall. Go inside and loot the next shard from inside a chest.

Shaded Woods

There are actually two shards to be uncovered in the Shaded Woods. Here's where you'll find both of them.

  • Make your way to the Shaded Ruins bonfire, then go to the hole near the basilisk. The first shard in this region is located just behind the door that's locked.
  • There's a room just opposite from the bonfire at Old Akerlarre. Have a rummage around inside to get hold of the second Shaded Woods shard.

Shrine of Amana

There's a path that's located right between the second and third bonfires in the Shrine of Amana. You're in the right spot if the area you're in contains a rate, a pair of mages, and a massive enemy. When everything's dead, get to the end of the path and loot your shard.
