Castle Crashers Remastered finally confirmed for Switch, PS4

Knight to see you.

Remember 2008? The Dark Knight and Iron Man were in cinemas. Amy Winehouse was in the charts. And on Xbox 360, the Summer of Arcade promotion was highlighting downloadable gems such as Braid, Geometry Wars and Castle Crashers.

Now, nearly 11 years on, Castle Crashers is back once more. Its Remastered version - previously available on Xbox One and PC - has after many teases now been confirmed for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Both new versions are playable online or in local co-op, and on PlayStation 4 your controller will light up with your character's colour. Snazz.

If you've never played Castle Crashers, it's a side-scrolling beat-'em-up featuring four cartoony knights. It's a lot of fun. The Remastered version doesn't yet have a firm release date, but I just spotted it's playable at EGX Rezzed (run by Eurogamer parent company Gamer Network) next month.

Indie developer The Behemoth, also known for Alien Hominid, went on to make Battleblock Theater and Pit People, which you can see us having a stab at below:
