Capcom: GAME's woes won't impact Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

"Consumers are buying brands they can trust."

UK retailer GAME's current financial troubles won't impact sales of forthcoming Resident Evil spin-off Operation Raccoon City, reckons publisher Capcom.

Speaking in an interview with MCV, UK product manager Karl Reader insisted that pre-order numbers are encouraging and the strength of the Resi brand should shield it from adverse market conditions.

"Our pre-order figures have given us a huge amount of confidence that the title will perform well despite the current conditions at UK retail," he said Karl Reader.

"Consumers are buying brands they can trust. The Resident Evil brand is synonymous with high production values and quality gaming experiences. We have an extensive DLC plan to further that longevity.

"We know our Resident Evil audience very well; the real challenge is to captivate a wider audience with a new take on team-based action horror. We couldn't be in a stronger position to achieve just that."

The Slant Six-developed multiplayer shooter launches on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 from 23rd March.

Following widely publicised credit problems, GAME has failed to stock a number of high profile titles in the last month and earlier this week announced it won't have Mass Effect 3 or Mario Party 9 on shelves.

Capcom titles are currently being stocked, though the publisher has delayed Asura's Wrath by a few weeks "due to the uncertainty of the UK retail market".
